Mother's Day Greetings
May 10, 2020 Blessed Mother’s Day Proverbs 31: 10 – 31 Dear sisters and brothers, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today is Mother’s Day and all of us are aware that without God and without our mothers we would not be able to open our eyes in this world. In fact, each one of us has a blessed memory of his/her mother. Let’s always be faithful and remember our mother’s dedicated lives. For me, I have to admit that I learned the Armenian Alphabet and Biblical stories from my mother. Plus, I learned more about Christ and the Christian life from my mother than from all the theological books of the seminary. Besides all these, every single day, I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. In one word, her prayers have clung to me all my life. 1. On this special day, while we count our mothers blessings, I want to share with you a prayer – song, “Called Her Blessed”, dedicated to our mothers.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLJ9epmJQzw&list=PLLFqiOKQ6KCH- 97v1wahTrdOgGEyK2rAF 2. Last month, on April 24, we commemorated the 105th Anniversary of the Armenian genocide. I want to share with you a part of a poem dedicated to our mothers who died during the Genocide or survived the Genocide to all those that they departed us and joined their Savior, written by an Armenian great poet, Barouyr Sevag.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyoxy82V1tE 3. Due to “Stay at Home” situation most of us are staying at home, but some doctors and nurses are in front lines and they are serving in hospitals and while we remember them and we pray for them, I want to share with you a song, singing by two nurses, while they are serving, during Covid 19, and how they missed their mothers and us missing our mothers.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MW4wwaH2fk0 4. This year is unusual for all of us and, God willing, we will celebrate Mother’s Day, at home, but unfortunately, without physically attending Church service. I want to remind and share with you a hymn, from our hymnal book, dedicated to mothers. “My Mother’s Prayer”, performed by two dedicated servants of the Lord and our Church, Ruth Kalousdain (solo) and Esther Assilian (Piano). By the way, this was on May 10, 2015 and today is May 10, 2020. Hoping and praying that soon we will physically be at Cilicia Sanctuary and worship the Lord, together.- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlUDFoVj_-A On the other hand, we all know that there are times when only a mother's love can understand our tears, can soothe our disappoints and calm our fears. There are times when only a mother's love can share the joy we feel, and when something we've dreamed about and quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother's faith can help us on life's way and inspire in us the confidence that we need from day to day.
Because, for a mother's heart and a mother's faith and a mother's steadfast love, are the touch of God’s Holy Spirit.
Therefore, let us pray. -
Dear Loving and Caring Father,
We thank you for our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, nannies and nurses, and all those who have acted as mothers by nurturing us and caring for us. Thank you that they were our comforters, advocates, cheerleaders, nurses, teachers and our guardian angels during childhood.
Lord God, we thank you for the love of the mothers you have given us, whose love is so precious that it can never be measured and whose patience seems to have no end.
Lord, we know that we did nothing to earn our mother’s love. They simply loved us because we were their own dearest child.
Lord, since we can never repay them, we simply lift them up to You with hearts full of gratitude and we pray that you will bless them with Your blessings.
Lord, bless our mothers and may the sun shine warm upon their faces. Lord, bless our mothers and may the wind be always at their back.
Lord, bless our mothers, with your own special love and that their love may be deep and tender, and that they may lead their children to know and do Your will, living not for themselves alone, but for YOU and for others.
Lord, thankfully, we remember also all our mothers that they did their best by serving You and their families, but physically they departed from us by closing their eyes to this earth and enjoying their Savior’s presence in Heaven.
Lord, fill us with Your love and with Your everlasting hope and may their memory be blessed in our lives.
Lord God, bless us, bless our families, bless our church, bless our nation and bless the world. In Jesus name we pray.
Amen
